Hi, I'm Kalia – a freelance photographer based in the beautiful Twin Cities of Minneapolis–St. Paul, Minnesota. My passion is to capture life’s most meaningful moments so they can be shared, cherished, and remembered with the people you love.

Here’s how my journey with photography began…

From a young age, I was drawn to cameras. Growing up in an Asian American household, family gatherings and celebrations were a big part of my life. I always wanted to capture those special moments, but I didn’t have a camera or phone of my own so I would often borrow my dad’s phone to snap photos whenever I could. One day, my dad surprised me with my very first digital camera. I was over the moon! I brought it everywhere to family events, fishing trips, you name it. I took photos of everything I could. Unfortunately, that little camera eventually broke and for a while I didn’t have access to another one.

It wasn’t until high school that I was reintroduced to photography through classes and electives. My passion began to grow again. But it wasn’t until 2016, after a deeply personal loss, that I found my true purpose in photography. When my oldest brother, Jimmy passed away at just 23, I was the one who created the photo and video slideshow for his memorial. As I went through years of memories, I realized how few quality photos we had of him—of the laughter, the love, the life he shared with us. That moment changed everything for me.

Through my grief, I found clarity: life is short and every day is a chance to create and preserve memories. That’s when I decided to fully pursue photography and not just as a hobby, but as a way to honor life, love, and legacy. In 2017, I officially launched my photography business with the mission to help others capture their most special moments. Photography brings me joy and purpose and I strive to keep growing and improving in my craft every single day. My goal is to not only take beautiful photos, but to help tell your story, authentically and meaningfully.
